MY PASSION

Welcome! I hope you will allow me to be a part of your perinatal health journey and women's health education. I've attended births and offered women's health education for nearly 10 years. My experiences laboring and giving birth to my four children opened my eyes to the importance of care that truly puts the client first. My own labors were affected by biased patient education, lack of follow-through for informed consent and lack of support which sparked a passion within me to ensure that every birthing person have the proper education and support throughout their perinatal period. Through my support of over 300 births as a doula, a desire to support birthing people in a primary provider role was reawakened. Having gleaned a wealth of knowledge through my experience serving both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings; I️'ve witnessed the benefits of home and birth center births!I am currently pursuing my BSM at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery, after which I will sit for the NARM exam to receive my CPM license. As I pursue my journey of midwifery as an apprentice, I am filled with excitement at the thought of encouraging birthing people to be confident in trusting their body through the natural, physiological process of birth. I find joy in being able to listen to the vision that one has for their birthing experience, as they allow me to share my knowledge and collaborate in their planning and decision-making.

As a birth professional, I believe in equipping women and families with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions pertaining to their care throughout preconception (and prior to any thoughts of preconception), their pregnancy, and the rest of their lifetime. My educational courses are designed with the conviction that women's healthcare is a lifelong journey from the initial onset of menstruation and beyond. Many women are never taught the ins and outs of taking care of their reproductive system and overall health until they begin contemplating attempting to conceive. Consequently, they may find themselves in a race against time in repairing any damage their lifestyle choices have perpetuated (or any hand their genetic pool may have handed them) and preparing their body for the journey into pregnancy and beyond. I offer education to young ladies in their teens and to women in their 20's and beyond. My courses are offered in the private and group setting.

Where to even begin? I can’t say enough about Shannon. I came to her looking for help with a possible VBA2C. She assured me it was possible and empowered me to do some research in order to find a practitioner that would support my choices. She walked me through the journey one week at a time, with tips for everything from nutrition, to exercise, to state of mind. I always felt comfortable reaching out to her with questions and she checked in with me periodically. As the due date came and went, she encouraged me to try a few last tricks to get labor going naturally…and they worked! My beautiful baby boy was born vaginally 6 hours before his scheduled C-section. Shannon labored with us at home and went to the hospital with us. Throughout the labor process, her soft voice and calm demeanor helped me bear the pain. I am 100% sure we would not have had the outcome we were looking for without Shannon’s help. I wish I would have found her sooner!
